Michael S. Fenster, MD, FACC, FSCA&I, PEMBA; known to friends and fans simply as “Chef Dr. Mike,” is The Food Shaman. He is a board-certified interventional cardiologist, professional chef and best-selling author. He searches the betwixt and between pleasure and prescription serving up the truth about the delicious and the nutritious.

He currently holds several faculty and clinical teaching positions and is in process  at The University of Montana to launch one of the first college accredited courses in Culinary Medicine anywhere in the United States.

In addition to his clinical practice, he hosts a sponsored weekly show, Journeys into Quantum Food available on iTunes. This is a natural evolution from his previous hit; Code Delicious with Dr. Mike featured for several years on RadioMD. In 2016, he served as the national spokesperson for the NET Fusion Initiative sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceutical; which educated those suffering from neuroendocrine tumors (NET) and carcinoid syndrome about food choices. He was recently asked to be on the editorial board of the academic journal, The Journal of Integrative Cardiology.

Chef Dr. Mike has appeared as an expert guest on many national radio and television programs; including The Doctors, and Fox National News. In 2017 he headlined the national wellness conference, Rock Stars of Health. He currently writes a regular column for Psychology Today and has authored several books including The Fallacy of The Calorie: Why The Modern Western Diet is Killing Us and How to Stop It (Koehler Books, 2014), Ancient Eats: The Greeks and Vikings (Koehler Books, 2016) and Food Shaman: The Art of Quantum Food (Post Hill Press, June 2018), which is his latest offering.

With a refreshingly unique perspective on the salubrious and the scrumptious, The Food Shaman has never been shy about following wherever the facts lead him. With a buccaneer boldness, he traces and explores the story of food, which is our story as a society, culture, and as individuals. Health and wellness or disease and disability hang in the balance. We are not only what we eat, we eat what we are. Authenticity of self begins by honoring the wholesomeness, connectedness, and Spirit of all we ingest in all its myriad forms.
